The Cinema

Since 1991, Filmrausch Moabit e.V. has been running the only cinema in Moabit with passion and dedication on the first floor of the KULTURFABRIK. Since 1995, we have been running our programme without interruption – entirely supported by dedicated volunteers who love and live cinema.

Our digital projection is state-of-the-art: Sony 4K projection. This means it can definitely hold its own against the big commercial cinemas.
At the same time, we also have a soft spot for analogue: we regularly show films on real 35mm and 16mm film stock – for all those who love the flickering and crackling of cinema tradition.

But we are more than just a place for current cinema releases. Over the years, we have developed very special programme focuses – we show genre films beyond the mainstream, Asian cinema, sophisticated, obscure and challenging works that put viewing habits to the test – and that is precisely why they are so fascinating.

Since our beginnings, promoting local film culture has been particularly close to our hearts. We offer young filmmakers a stage to show their work and engage directly with the audience. Filmrausch stands for variety, offering a screen for big and small, old and new films.

Every summer, we transform our backyard between old brick walls and railway tracks into a magical open-air cinema. Under the open sky, with cool drinks in hand, we celebrate the cinema experience together in the most beautiful courtyard in town.

In short: we make films the way we love them – independent, unusual, with heart, soul and a healthy dose of excitement.
